Test results/comparison of the converters in practice SAT DX : SMW WDL type E - Invacom QDF-031 , SMW X-Line - SMW WDL E , SMW PLL - SMW WDL E _ as related to the quality of the reception to the price of the converter ?

- TEXT questions nr.1 :
Hello Roman,
I see you have many experience with SMW lnb, specially with WDL Digital type E. But for now i use
Invacom QDF-031 LNB which give me good results so far from LNBs on common market. I wonder
what difference would i get be before spending more money to SMW. Have you ever compared these
two LNBs; WDL and QDF-031?
I send price quote to Motala and they offered this LNB with different stability oscillator, price range from
247 to 368 euro for +/-1 Mhz. This is very expensive for end-user and DX hobby.
Could you suggest or deny, should i buy such WDL, would it give better signal results or just more stable
in harsh weather enviroment?
Thank you for your time
Pozdrav
Primoz

- Answer to question nr. 1 :
.
Dear Mr. Primož ,
I can assure you that there is no certainty (guarantee) that the converters SMW WDL-DRO,SMW PLL... achieve quality
growth in reception , compared with converter Invacom QDF-031 or SNF-031, because each converter operates differently,
and I also met with a case where the old SMW X-LINE converter (the basic version without any options) in the price of
60 Euro reached a higher reception quality of about MER=1-3+ dB than the best quality converter SMW WDL Digital TYPE E
(with almost all options for a high surcharge) for about 400+ Euro.(I made measurements on the same frequency from the
same satellite for the same weather conditions for the exchange of time converters only ten minutes) This strong revenue
growth in quality over MER=1-3+ dB,compared with LNB SMW WDL Digital E, I measured the carrier of these satellites :
Insat 4B-Astra 2D-Bonum 1... .
Simply the final price of the converter and the additional options at extra cost (like high stability LOF...), ultimately not
related with the growth of quality of SAT DX reception !
It's really no guarantee of practice to improve the quality of reception for you Primož .For you as a fan of satellite reception
/not professional/,would have been unnecessarily paid money .

SMW WDL Digital Type E > SMW PLL 9.75 GHz / with an option LOF stability +/- 150 kHz
> is better >
Test result for the LNB SMW PLL 9.75 GHz : for each transponder of the satellite Astra 2D, I measured a significant
decrease in the quality of reception ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 dB of MER / depending on the carrier frequency in the spectrum .

Hello Mr. Roman,
Thank you very much for this explanation. It certainly helps me spend my money more wisely, i think i will rather invest in
bigger dish like yours Prodelin 1374.I am looking forward to join as memeber of such honorable group of yours.
Pozdrav,
Primož

Test result for the LNB SMW X-Line type C : Depending on the choice of the carrier in the frequency range of
Insat 4B-Astra 2D-Bonum 1 satellites, I measured an average of MER=1 to 3+ dB increase the quality of reception .

Dear Mr. Primož ,
I am glad that you correctly understood my recommendation and I can only confirm the correctness of your decision to
purchase antennas Prodelin 3.7 m > is the right decision .
